Hey there!
I’d been meaning to make a personal site for a while now, but (as with many other things in life) I could never find the time nor motivation to sit down and do it. The detonant for this project was me getting temporarily vanished from a professionally-oriented social media platform. Even though now I’m back in LinkedIn, I reckon I’ll use this as a personal diary of sorts.
As I’ve dabbled with websites before, mainly with the help of friends who actually knew what they were doing (c;), I had some ideas on where to start. But the determining factor was that I stumbled upon this video by Zaney, which instantly sold me on Hugo. I’m fairly happy with it so far! I’m using the XMin template with some modifications (which are extremely messy). I’m also using darkmode.js, which I really really like because of how stupidly easy it is to implement (heck, I managed! That’s always an achievement). After modifying it a bit, I’ve stumbled upon some issues that I might get around to fixing at some point.
Overall, it’s been quite fun to go over this. I’ve done this over a bit of an extended stay back home, and the tranquility of knowing I don’t have to bike through shit weather tomorrow to make it to a meeting that really, really could have been an email has been key to being able to actually do this.
On another note, I already have a couple of nice plans and drafts for the site! I’d like to start a section documenting some of the subsystems I design for whatever (either DARE, or for work, the bosses allowing). I’d also like to start up a diary of random places around wherever I am, and looking into their little histories.
Anyway, thanks for reading! I really appreciate it. Hope to be able to share some more cool stuff with you soon!
